Permissions for music and filming

After a week or so, we still hadn't heard back so we went to the S-Curve Records website and found another email to try, as shown below.

We also thought we'd try and contact Andy Grammer directly through Twitter. I don't have a twitter account, so my project partner Chloe tweeted him to ask for permission. We also tweeted his record label, S-Curve Records, as they are more likely to actually have the power to allow us to use the song.

In the end, we didn't use the dancers in our video because not only would it be too complicated to organise, we decided it wouldn't look right for our video as the dancers were younger than our main actors.

We then decided to ask if we could use one of the drama classrooms instead. This would still give us the dark setting with stage lights that we were looking for, and we could use it after school free of charge. We got permission to use it as long as we give 24 hours notice.

Completing this task has shown me that although it may be easy to find contact information for copyright holders, it is more difficult to actually gain permission from them. Also, having to find a place to film was quite a challenge. We had to take into account that not everyone would be free at the same time, and also to hire a place might cost a lot of money. We managed to find places to film that wouldn't cost us anything and will still look as good as our original idea.
